Janta Express survivors reach Mumbai in relief train

A relief train carrying survivors of the ill-fated Janta Express reached the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus this morning, much to the respite of anxious family members. Central Railway spokesperson A K Singh said special arrangements were made for the passengers who arrived at around 10 AM today. He added that most of the passengers appeared tired and aggrieved after witnessing the derailment.<br/><br/>He informed that more than 700 passengers had boarded the accident relief train from Itarsi in Madhya Pradesh. While 250 passengers reached Mumbai this morning; the others got down at Bhusaval, Manmad, Nashik Road, Kalyan and Thane railway stations. Two express trains passing each other derailed while crossing a railway bridge struck by flash floods in Madhya Pradesh's Harda district. The twin derailment that occurred at about 1130 PM on Tuesday involved the Varanasi-bound Kamayani Express from Mumbai and the Mumbai-bound Janta Express originating from Patna.
