In West Bengal, the Congress candidate Mr. Abhijeet Mukherjee is ahead of his (CPIM) rival by over 6500 votes after 13th round of counting in Jangipur Parliamentary bye-election.
Alltogether 11 candidates are in the fray. The bye-election was necessitated after Mr. Pranab Mukherjee got elected as President of India.
Counting of votes for the bye-election to Tehri Lok Sabha constituency in Uttarakhand is also in progress.
The main contest is between the Congress candidate Saket Bahuguna and BJP contestant, Malaraj Lakshmi Sah. According to latest reports Mala Rajlaxmi Shah was racing ahead by 11 thousand votes over her nearest rival Saket Bahuguna.
The Tehri Lok Sabha seat fell vacant following the resignation of Vijay Bhauguna on his and becoming the Chief Minister of the state.
