The 270 Kms Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW-44) remained closed for vehicular traffic for the second consecutive day today due to landslide and sinking of the National Highway between Dalwas, Nashri and Peedha. AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that the only all weather road connecting Kashmir valley with rest of the country was closed in the wee hours yesterday due to a massive landslide and sinking of the national highway at Dalwas.<br />'' <br />''The national highway was damaged due to a massive landslide and sinking of about 50 meters stretch of the road at Dhalwas due to heavy rainfall. Hundreds of vehicles, mostly those carrying essential commodities have been stranded on the national highway at different places and on both the ends of the blocked site. Men and machinery have been mobilised to the spot for the clearance of the debris but fresh heavy rainfall since early morning today is hampering the debris and muck clearance operation.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Following heavy rainfall, efforts to reopen the national highway have been hampered and due to fresh landslides, the debris clearance operations could not be carried out properly and the possibility of opening of the national highway today is almost impossible. Moreover, the Traffic police authorities of NHW has requested and advised the passengers not to travel without confirming the status of the road from TCU Ramban, Jammu, Srinagar and Udhampur.</span><br />
