Jammu observes bandh by BJP against pass IDRB

A bandh is being observed in Jammu today on the call given by opposition Bhartiya Janta Party against the decision of the Government to pass the Inter -District Recruitment Bill in the Legislative Assembly and Council today.

All shops, educational institutions and business establishments are closed with public transport completely off the roads.

Only private vehicles are seen plying on the roads.

The activists of BJP were seen forcing the shop keepers to down their shutters in various markets of Jammu city.

BJP has alleged that inter -district
recruitment bill has totally exposed the anti SC, anti-Gujjar and anti-Bakerwal stand of ruling Coalition (National Conference and Congress) partners.

The ruling coalition partners are likely to support the bill in amended form keeping 8 % reservation quota for Scheduled Castes (SCs) across the State but confining all other reservations including that of Scheduled Tribes(STs) within the parameters of the district and the division.

However, the BJP is opposed to this as it wants present system of recruitment in the State, which has been upheld by the Supreme Court, to continue.

It may be mentioned here that the budget session of the J&K Legislature which was to conclude on April 5 was extended by a day for today for passing the said bill.
