Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh regions in grip of severe cold weather

Union Territories Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh regions are in the grip of severe cold weather. The Met department in Srinagar has said there would be widespread moderate to heavy snowfall with isolated very heavy snowfall for the next three days from now. <br />'' AIR correspondent reports, in most of the parts of Union Territories Jammu  & Kashmir and Ladakh moderate to very heavy snowfall is expected  till January Sixth forenoon. Peak activity will be during 4th night to 5th January afternoon in both Jammu and Kashmir regions, especially in South Kashmir, Poonch, Rajouri, Banihal-Ramban and Reasi. <br />''  <br />'' A light to moderate snowfall is also likely in Zanskar, Drass,Kargil and Leh and surrounding places on 5th of January. Srinagar Met department said, significant improvement is most likely from 6th onwards.  <br />''  <br />''While several places in Ladakh are under severe cold weather conditions, many places in Ladakh have recorded maximum temperatures under sub zeros. World's second coldest habitation Drass recorded maximum temperature minus Eight degrees while minimum was minus 12.1. Similarly, Kargil recorded day temperature at minus Seven and night minus 15 degrees. While Leh is at two degrees in the day but night temperature recorded at minus 14 degrees celsius.
