Jammu & Kashmir: Kishtwar District Administration successfully brought power facilities to Sumchang village

In Jammu and Kashmir, in a significant stride towards ensuring equitable access to electricity, the Kishtwar District Administration has successfully brought power facilities to the remote Sumchang village of Paddar Subdivision of district Kishtwar. Aakashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that Sumchang village is located at an altitude of 3250 meters from Mean Sea Level (MSL) and is near to Kargil border and adjacent to the famous Paddar Sapphire Mine. At Sumchang habitation, a part of Losaini village has received a transformative intervention with the provision and installation of 14 solar power packs. <br />'' <br />'' These solar power packs provided under the Untied Funds of District Development Commissioner Kishtwar have been strategically distributed to all households in the village, catering to the 100% Buddhist population residing in this high-altitude habitation. The initiative aims to enhance lighting and ensure power availability during the challenging winter months. The District Administration is committed to providing power supply to each village of the District and JPDCL Kishtwar is actively engaged in extending grid connectivity to other Buddhist habitations, including Halothi, Hango, Dangail, and Ghurnarh. <br />'' <br />'' The ongoing grid connectivity works, funded under UT Capex, are well underway and are scheduled for completion before November. Sumchag, however, stands uniquely illuminated with solar power packs, symbolizing a sustainable and innovative approach to electrification in challenging terrains. The residents of Sumchag village express their heartfelt appreciation to DC Kishtwar for spearheading this transformative initiative.
