In Jammu and Kashmir, the 63rd Republic Day was celebrated in Kargil at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium with zeal and patriotism despite the temperature going 21 degree Celsius below normal.Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan was the Chief Guest, who hoisted the National Flag.In the parade, contingents of District Police Kargil, NCC and from Various Schools of Kargil and One Band Party of Indian Army participated and various cultural troops of Information Department, Cultural Academy and form different schools presented cultural programmes on the eve of Republic Day.Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan said that the Governments at Center, State as well as at District level are keen in uplifting the overall development level of Kargil District for which various Projects of more than 500 crore rupees are under construction, while others are getting approval and some are going to start. In district hospital Kargil, a C T Scan with latest technology has been installed at a cost of more than Rs 2 crore and for that the CEC thanked the Governor J&K NN Vohra.Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan said that NABARD has sanctioned various link road projects for Kargil, at a cost of Rs 35 crore.On the recommendation of the special task forces various projects have been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 50 crore. To curb unemployment the council has recruited 508 unemployed youths in different job categories and are going to recruit more in the coming years.Mr. Khan added that 193 unemployed youths have been provided employment under Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Welfare Programme.Some of the coming projects are 7 Block Veterinary Offices, Language Centre at Kargil to research in Purgi, Balti and Shina Languages, 200 bedded hospital at Kurbathang, ANMT School, Boys Hostel Jammu, Different Motorable Bridges, International Ice Hockey Rink at Kargil & Ice Hockey rink at Drass and Kargil House at Delhi etc.The CEC said that one Unit of 11 Megawatts of Chutuk Hydel Project is at its completion stage and will be commissioned soon, likewise work on the council secretariat is on full swing and the Block Hospital Sankoo was fully equipped with Central Heating System and Drass will be fully equipped with central heating system in the coming year.Like In Kargil Republic Day was also celebrated at Drass, Sankoo, Chiktan Zanskar, AIR Baroo and HPT Kurbathang.Executive Councilor Haji Ghulam Amir hoisted the National Flag at Chiktan; Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Kacho Hassan Khan hoisted the National Flag at Sankoo, SDM Zanskar hoisted the National Flag at Zanskar, SDM Drass Syed Jamal Hoisted the National Flag at Drass and Director (Engg) MR S K Shirivastava hoisted the National Flag at Radio Station AIR Baroo.
