The day-long Jammu bandh called by Vishwa Hindu Parishad passed off peacefully on Saturday. The bandh was called for protesting against the alleged failure of district administration in taking action against miscreants who had attacked a religious procession in Rajouri town.No report of any untoward incident was received from any part of Jammu during the bandh. Shops in Jammu remained closed and the flow of traffic came to a virtual standstill.Bandh was also observed in Udhampur, samba, Reasi and border towns of Sunderbani and Noushera in Rajouri district.The situation in Rajouri town is fast returning to normal with administration completely lifting curfew. This follows intervention of Group of Ministers which arrived Rajouri on Saturday and talked to cross section of people for defusing the tension. The delegation led by Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma held a 16-hour-long meeting with members of two communities. Shops opened today in the border town after about 10 days.
