In Bangladesh, the Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to hold protest rallies across the country on Saturday to protest the police action on Thursday against its activists in Dhaka. Acting Secretary General of the Jamaat -e-Islami ATM Azharul Islam announced the protest programs at a press conference in the party’s central office in Dhaka on Friday.Earlier on Thursday, police resorted to lathi charge to disperse activists of the party who tried to organize protests in the form of human chain against rising prices of essentials and price-hike of fuel and CNG. The party has also demanded the immediate release of its detained workers, who were detained during the protests organized outside the National Press Club.
