The head of Libya's National Transitional Council, Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, has delivered his first public speech in the capital Tripoli on Monday, outlining his plans for the country. Thousands of Libyans gathered to hear his speech in the central square in the city. He emphasized the need for a modern democratic state with an active role for women in New Libya. Mr. Abdul-Jalil said we will not accept any extremist ideology, on the right or the left. Meanwhile, the Amnesty International has appealed to the Libya's National Transitional Council to stop human rights violations by anti-Gaddafi forces. Amnesty supporters loyal to Col. Gaddafi had committed widespread crimes under International Law during the conflict in Libya. But the Director of the Organization said there were also evidences of serious abuses by opposition supporters.
