Jalandhar building collapse toll mounts to 9, 62 rescued

In Punjab, the rescue teams have rescued another victim after more than 72 hours of the building collapse in Jalandhar, in the wee hours today. The number of persons saved in the incident, has reached 62 while there has been nine casualties. AIR Correspondent reports that on the other hand, the situation on the first floor of the three-storied building seems to be quite grim.The environment around the collapsed building has filled with foul smell started emanating from the buried bodies. NDRF officer leading the rescue along with Army has told that they have been able to make vertical approach by making holes in the debris and have found more bodies lying under the debris at the ground floor. As more than one fourth of the debris have been removed with the help of bulldozers, the rescue teams are now going slow with heavy machines after founding live victims even after more than seventy hours.
