Safe potable drinking at the doorstep was a challenge for every Ladakhi during winter months, as water sources in these months get frozen. Now all the difficulties end as the UT government has made tap water available with local relevant modification under JJM.<br />”<br />”With target to reach every household with clean tap water, UT Ladakh set a deadline of 100 percent coverage of Jal Jeevan mission by 15th August 2022.<br />”<br />”Villagers of Skampuk village of Nubra Sub Division of Leh district shared their happiness of being connected with tapped water with AIR news. Villagers said, Jal Jeevan Mission solved the problems of water. They used to have lot of issues to get water in freezing winter. They have thank the government.<br />”<br />”There are 105 households in this remote village and every home is provided with clean tap water even in sub-zero temperatures.<br />”<br />”In Karakoram range, at 13 thousand feet height in Himalayas, with the Insulation jacket method to keep the taps warm, now the water is not freezing in the pipelines and people are getting tap water in sub-zero temperatures.<br />”<br />”It's not just Skumpuk village, But Umla villagers too sharing the joy of having tap water at their homes and expressed that the government made their life easy. Umla villager Tsewang Dolma said, feeling very happy about the doorstep portable water even during winter months. Earlier, they have to face a lot of difficulties to get from long distances.<br />”<br />”UT administration is continuously monitoring the progress made in JJM on daily basis to make 100 percent connectivity and celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in 2022 with safe potable drinking water at households in high altitude cold desert Ladakh region. </span><br />
