In Andhra Pradesh, the district authorities of Coastal region have been put on high alert as the cyclone in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into severe cyclone. Several districts are receiving rains under the influence of the severe Cyclone ‘Jal’ which is located about 750 kms off Nellore coast. According to Met officials heavy to very heavy rains likely in coastal districts today and tomorrow. National Disaster Response Teams have been alerted in Nellore. Chief Minister K Rosaiah who has been monitoring the situation time to time, has directed the authorities to evacuate people from all the low laying areas in Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna and Guntur districts as the storm surge might be 2 meters more than normal on its land fall. Fishing activity has been totally suspended on the coast.
