Jaitley says stressed assets core area of concern and govt will expeditiously work with banking system to resolve issue

Union finance minister Arun Jaitley today said that stressed assets of banks in India is core area of concern for the government. He was delivering the keynote address at 70th Annual General Meeting of Indian Bank Association in Mumbai today.Speaking at the function, Mr. Jaitley assured banks that government stands with banking system and will work expeditiously to strengthen it. He lauded the banks for their initiatives for financial inclusion and AADHAAR seeding.Mr. Jaitley further said that India has adequately demonstrated its ability to reform and growth and its ability to face challenges is much better than earlier. Rajiv Rishi, Chairman IBA, was among the dignitaries present on the occasion. In his opening remarks Mr. Rishi elaborated various initiatives of IBA in last one year and especially during demonization and roll out of GST.
