Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today reviewed the performance of public sector banks in a meeting in New Delhi today. Speaking to media after the meeting Mr Jaitley said, issues of synergies with Public Sector Banks, roadmap for the year and credit requirements from various sector were discussed. He said, health of public sector banks and progress of Jan Dhan Yojana and pension schemes also came up for discussion.The Minister said, problems of steel sector was discussed and the banks suggested steps for dealing with stress from metal sector. On Non Performing Assets, Mr Jaitley said, there is an unacceptable level of bad loans at Indian banks and part of stress on banks is due to certain sectors. He said, steps announced by the RBI will improve quality of assets and NPA situation will improve.
