Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar is visiting Colombo from today on a two-day visit to Sri Lanka. During the visit, he will meet Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and PM Ranil Wickremsinghe to discuss issues of mutual interest. <br/><br/>Review of economic projects agreed as part of MOU between the two countries earlier this year, will be high on agenda. His visit comes in wake of recent petrol crisis in Sri Lanka in which country's petroleum minister had initially blamed Lanka IOC for the crisis. <br/><br/>A cabinet subcommittee later formed to look into the issue absolved LIOC of any shortcomings and blamed state run CPC for the shortage. LIOC has possession of 99 oil tanks in Trincomalee harbor but the lease agreement in this regard is to be freshly agreed upon. <br/><br/>Petroleum unions in the country have opposed handing over of oil tanks to the Indian company and the matter is now in court.
