Rural Development Minister, Jairam Ramesh has urged the West Bengal government to speed up caste census in the state. In a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Mr. Ramesh has sought her personal intervention in this regard. He said about 15 per cent of the enumeration of blocks covering about 18 per cent of the population have been covered under the census till now.
