Jaintia Hill council suspension revoked

The Meghalaya cabinet has lifted the animated suspension of the Jaintia Hill Autonomous District Council. District Council Affairs Minister HDR Lyngdoh said after a cabinet meeting last evening that the majority of the elected members of the Congress-led council have resolved to work together unitedly and had appealed to the government to revoke the administrator rule imposed on March 31 last. The JHADC was put under animated suspension after the council failed to pass its budget following a revolt by some elected members against the chief executive member. The government had then felt the council could encounter a financial crisis and thus imposed administrator rule.
