Jail for Kerala CPI(M) leader for contempt of court

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court today sentenced CPI(M) leader M V Jayarajan to six months imprisonment in connection with a contempt of court case against him.

The Division Bench comprising Justice V Ramkumar and Justice PQ Barkat Ali also imposed a fine of two thousand rupees on him. The court had suo moto initiated contempt of court proceedings against the CPI-M leader for making derogatory remarks against the judges in connection with a High Court order banning road side public meetings across the state.

Jayarajan was taken into custody by the police, shortly after the judgement was pronounced.
