Jai Kishan becomes 1st Indian skydiver to make highest jump in Everest region

Wing Commander Jai Kishan, of Indian Force became the first Indian skydiver to make the highest jump in the Everest Region. He is a Parachute Jump Instructor of Indian Air Force, based at Agra, Wing Commander Kishan skydived from a height of 27,500 from a Pilatus PC-6 aircraft near the Everest base camp at Shyangboche in Solokhumbu district in Nepal this morning. <br/>Talking to AIR Kathmandu Correspondent Wing Commander Jai Kishan said it was an amazing experience skydiving from a height of over 25,000 ft, and fulfilling his long awaited dream of skydiving over Mt Everest on a day as auspicious as Deepawali.<br/>After free falling for approximately 60 seconds at a speed of 220 mile per hour Wing Commander Jai Kishan deployed his parachute and successfully displayed the Indian tri-colour in the cold Everest air for almost 5 minutes before landing. Wing Commander Kishan from New Delhi made the solo jump along with Wendy Smith of New Zealand and Mery Noonan of the USA. Mt. Everest submitter and skydiver from Nepal Ms. Pujan Acharya along with Tom Noonan of the USA also made a tandem jump from a height of 29,300 ft at Shyangboche this morning. The skydiving adventure was organized by Explore Himalaya Travel and Adventure, a private travel agency based in Kathmandu.<br/>
