Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda today inaugurated Boys and Girls Hostel and Library-cum-Examination Hall of Regional Institute of Paramedical & Nursing Sciences in Aizwal. The Minister also laid foundation stone for Tertiary Care Cancer Centre at Mizoram State Cancer Institute in the state capital.<br/><br/>Addressing public reception, Mr. Nadda said that the Prime Minister has a special affection for the North-East. The region has been ignored and neglected for various reasons for long and the present government is monitoring on what best we can do for the region. <br/><br/>He said that a satellite centre will be set up in different states starting from Arunachal Pradesh. The Minister said that it is important to grow in quality and number to serve the health sector in the best possible manner.<br/><br/>The Minister informed that about 45 crore rupees will be spent for the Tertiary Care Cancer Centre for building and equipments with the most modern facilities and up-gradations. With the increase in cancer patients the focus has now shifted from communicable diseases to non communicable diseases, he said. <br/><br/>The initiative has been taken for taking universal screening at the age of 30 years for early detection of cervix cancer, breast cancer, hyper tension, oral cancer and diabetes. The Minister also said that 100 districts are selected in the country for universal screening of cancer of which 23 districts are from North East including four districts from Mizoram. He also requested the state Government for opening of AMRIT outlets for easy access of medicines for all citizens at cheaper rates.
