The CBI has today arrested Excise and prohibition Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana in connection with ongoing probe into YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s disproportionate assets case. The CBI officials have questioned the Minister yesterday for over 7 hours and he was asked to appear before them today for further questioning. Accordingly, the Minister appeared before them at 11 am today and subsequently he was taken into custody. The Minister is facing allegations in connection with the land allotment to the controversial VANPIC project as Minister for infrastructure and investments during erstwhile YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime. The project was finalized during Mopidevi Venakata Ramana’s tenure and the CBI has charged him with violation of rules in land allotment for this project.
