Jagadish Shettar takes over as K’taka CM

Jagadish Shettar, was today sworn in as Chief Minister of Karnataka, along with a 33-member ministerial team.They include 11 new faces and two Deputy Chief Ministers.

State unit BJP president K S Eshwarappa and R Ashoka, who was a member of the D V Sadananda Gowda cabinet, were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers by Governor H R Bhardwaj, who administered the oath of office to the new ministers at a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan.

56-year-old Shettar has retained all members of the Gowda ministry. All the ministers have been given Cabinet rank.
Speaking to media after taking over, the new Chief Minister said that the top priority of his Government will be to tackle drought situation in the State. Jagadish Shettar urged the administration to pull up its shocks for effective implementation of government programmes.
After assuming office Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter took upon the saddles of governance. He shortlisted his priorities and sought the support of other ministers and officials to make Karnataka a modal state in the country. Drinking water and fodder supply, effective implementation of MGNREGA, reaching benefits to the common man were on his mind when he spoke to the Secretary level officers. He also stressed that lot of file works and seeking queries and counter queries delays implementation of works. After taking charge today, the next big challenge before Mr.Shetter is probably to take up allocation of portfolios as soon as possible.
