Union Health Minister Mr. J.P.Nadda led a Yoga session in Colombo today. Mr. Nadda is on three-day visit to Sri Lanka to attend the 69th session of WHO (World Health Organisation) Regional committee meeting. Today's morning session at the natural sea beach was organized as part of 'Be the change' theme for promoting physical activities. <br/><br/>Health minister of Sri Lanka and other participating nations, high commissioner of India, other delegates were among those who participated. In his brief speech, the health minister stressed upon the many benefits of Yoga saying it is unique method of combing body, mind and soul. Mr. Nadda said that it is very useful in fighting non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension and heart attacks. <br/><br/>The ongoing regional meeting of WHO has adopted a special resolution to combat non-communicable diseases which are on the rise. Booklets and leaflets on Yoga postures were made available to participants at the venue. More than 100 people including helath ministers of 11 nations, delegates, senior officials of high commission of India, WHO and others participated in the half-hour long Yoga session.
