In a major achievement, Jammu & Kashmir Police busted a counterfeit currency racket by seizing 1.50 lacs fake Indian Currency from 4 persons at a special check point in Jammu city. The counterfeit Indian currency was in the denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000. The accused have been identified as Sahil Mubarak Butt and Shoket Mohiddin Kuchey both residents of Kulgam (Kashmir) and Zakir Hussain and Shahid both residents of West Bengal. According to Superintendent of Police, Jammu, the fake currency was being smuggled by the racketeers from Pakistan through Bangladesh-West Bengal border and then pumped into Jammu and Kashmir for use of militants and over ground workers. From the possession of arrested persons, Police also recovered letter heads, stamps and some other material related to Hizbul Majahideen outfit.
