Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned Rs. 2 crore, one crore each for Government Medical College, Jammu and Srinagar for the treatment of patients suffering from Hemophilia.This was stated by the J&K Minister for Medical Education Mr. R S Chib while addressing a one-day Conference-cum- Workshop clinics in Hemophilia at Government Medical College, Srinagar on Wednesday. He said free of cost treatment will be provided to the Hemophilia patients in the state for which adequate funds have been earmarked. He said the government will constitute a Steering Committee to monitor the cases of Hemophilia patients in the state. He said the enhancement of diagnostic facilities and trained manpower to deal effectively with the Hemophilia patients is in the active consideration of the government.There are about 4 lakh Hemophilia sufferers across the world, of which 14,000 are in India out of which 123 registered cases are in J&K state.
