Mumbai’s Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act – MCOCA court has extended the police custody of journalist Jigna Vora till Monday next week. Jigna Vora, deputy bureau chief of English daily Asian Age, was arrested last week in connection with crime reporter J Dey’s murder case. However, the court rejected Mumbai Police’s application seeking to conduct a narco-analysis test on Jigna Vora as she had expressed unwillingness to undergo the test.In a related development, the court granted the police, custody of another accused Paulson Joseph till Monday. The custody was granted after the prosecution stated that the police wanted to confront Vora and Joseph. Veteran journalist Jyotirmoy Dey was shot dead in suburban Mumbai on June 11.The Mumbai Crime Branch have named gangster Chhota Rajan as the mastermind of the murder, and have arrested 11 people so far. The Mumbai Police believes that Vora had allegedly supplied vital information about J Dey, like his motorcycle number, his home and office address and his daily schedule to Chhota Rajan.
