IWAI plans to set-up modern Indian Waterways Hub at Haldia: Gadkari

Minister for Road Transport, Highways & Shipping Nitin Gadkari today said that Inland Waterways Authority of India is planning to set-up a modern Indian Waterways Hub at Haldia, which will attract more traffic in this region. <br/><br/>Laying the foundation stone of ROB-cum-Flyover at Ranichak, Haldia in West Bengal,? the Minister said, Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) is the main gateway for import/export of cargo to and from Eastern, North Eastern and Northern part of the country besides land locked countries like Nepal and Bhutan.<br/><br/>Haldia Port Trust is providing approximately 11 hectares land required for the project. The cost of utility shifting, resettlement, if any, is being borne by them. Besides this, they are also sharing the cost of the project being a part of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). <br/><br/>The project will not only improve traffic flow in the surrounding areas but in turn will attract more industries and develop Haldia as a whole. The Project Cost estimated at Rs.240 crore is to start in February this year and will be completed in August, 2018.
