The US today said that New Delhi will leverage its good contacts with the top Myanmar General, Than Shwe to convince him about the need to address the concerns of the international community on restoration of democracy and protection of human rights of his own people. State Department spokesman, P J Crowley said that the Obama Administration has spoken to New Delhi about the relationship between the two counties. He said it's important for Myanmar to hear not only from the United States, but also from other regional leaders, India foremost among them. Mr. Crowley said that US made it very clear to Indian friends that India's very important role in the international community gives it a voice. The statement has been made following the conclusion of head of Myanmar's ruling military junta Gen Than Shwe five-day state visit to India.
