The tax department will hold an eight-day special camp in the national capital to help taxpayers file their Income Tax Returns, ITRs. A senior Income Tax officer said that the camp will be held at the civic centre I-T building, near Connaught Place, and will be inaugurated on Monday by Central Board of Direct Taxes Chairperson Anita Kapur. <br/><br/>It will function till August 31 during office hours, with Saturdays and Sundays, falling between these days, being open. He said, special counters are being organised to facilitate small tax payers having salary or pension income and help them in filing paper returns. <br/><br/>A statement from the CBDT said that taxpayers may note that for the assessment year 2015-16, corresponding to the financial year 2014-15, e-filing of return of income is mandatory for persons whose total income exceeds 5 lakh rupees or if the return contains a claim for refund. <br/><br/>It said, paper returns in such cases will not be accepted. It however said that the income limit of five lakh rupees and claim of refund will not apply to taxpayer over the age of 80 years deriving salary or pension income. The last date for filing I-T returns for the assessment year 2015-16 and the corresponding financial year 2014-15 is August 31.
