The Indo-Tibetan Border Police, ITBP is going to include its first women battalion in the exclusive high altitude force. Talking to AIR, the Director General of ITBP, Mr Vikram Srivastava said that the women battalion consisting of 380 women will become operational from the month of February next year. He said that they are currently being trained in Chandigarh and will pass out in the first week of February. AIR Correspondent reports that with this, the number battalions in ITBP will become 45.<br/><br/>With their male counterparts, these women will also be kept under rigorous training for 44 weeks.The training includes rock- climbing, mountaineering and other battle fighting activities because they have to guard tough terrains of high altitude.The battalion will be deployed along the India-China border at Nathula La pass where trade has begun and on the Kailash mansarovar Yatra to escort piligrims.Besides it, ITBP is also planning to deploy some of them to guard the President as well as the sprawling Rashtrapati Bhawan estate. The message is loud and clear, that women in any field are ready to accept the challenge.<br/>
