ITBP celebrates 50th raising day today

The Indo Tibetan Border Police Force, ITBP is celebrating its 50th raising day today. The force organised a function at the Tigri Camp in the National Capital, Delhi this morning.

Several contingents marched in synchronisation and horse borne soldiers put up an impressive show.

Director General of ITBP Ranjit Sinha said that besides border security, ITBP also provides protection to VVIPs and takes part in anti-Maoist operations.

AIR Correspondent reports that ITBP was set up in 1962 with four battalions to guard the Indo- China border. At present the force has 49 battalions with a total strength of over 55 thousand soldiers deployed across the country.

Besides border security management, the force also plays a primary role in disaster management.
