Italy's Deputy Foreign Minister Steffan de Mistura, now in Kerala in connection with the case of killing of two Indian fishermen has said his country expects the trial of the accused Italian marines to be fair as the judiciary is independent in India. He said this in Kollam, Kerala where he had gone to meet the family members of one of the fishermen killed in February 15 shooting by Italian marines. The fisherman's family turned down the move of the Italian delegation to meet them at a local church during the Sunday mass. The Italian team met the two marines charged with murder in the shooting case and detained in police custody.
