Italian vessel Enrica Lexie to sail for Colombo today

Italian vessel Enrica Lexie detained off Kochi for nearly 80 days will sail for Colombo this evening. The vessel was detained following the killing of two fishermen by Itallian Marines onboard the ship. The Kerala High Court today permitted the vessle to sail out following a Supreme Court order earlier.

The owner of the vessel executed a bond for three crore rupees before the Kerala High Court and a Demand Draft for the same amount for the release of the ship. The shipping company also gave an undertaking that six crew members of the vessel including its captain will be produced when summoned by any court in the country.

The documents were signed by the Managing Director of Dolphin Tankers – Pio Shiano, captain of the vessel and others.
