Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has said that one must speak in his or her mother tongue at home. Interacting with the students of a renowned private educational group in Coimbatore on the International Day of Mother Tongue today, he said, it is the collective responsibility of the people to protect and preserve all our languages. He noted that language is the lifeline of culture. Mr Naidu recalled that he has been appealing to all state governments to make it mandatory to teaching in one's mother tongue up to primary or high school level.<br />''<br />''Touching upon the right to dissent, Vice President Naidu said that dissent is essential in a democracy but talks of disintegration are not acceptable. He said that protests should be held in a peaceful and democratic manner and no one can speak against the unity and integrity of the country.<br />''On the Citizenship Amendment Act, Mr Naidu urged that one should study it first and understand it. He said, it has nothing to do with Indian citizens and it pertains to refugees who have been persecuted on religious grounds in neighbouring countries.<br />''<br />''Referring to the comments being made by certain countries on the revocation of Article 370 and other issues, Mr Naidu said, they should mind their own affairs and should stop commenting on India's internal matters.<br />''Mr Naidu asked the youth to shun negativism and adopt a constructive and positive approach towards life. He called upon both the government and the private sector to ensure access to quality education at affordable cost to students, particularly from the downtrodden and marginalized sections. He said education alone has the power to bring about a change in lifestyles and empower people.<br />
