Issue of Odd-Even scheme echoes in Rajya Sabha

The implementation of the Odd-Even scheme of car rationing in Delhi figured in the Rajya Sabha today with several MPs seeking exemptions to attend Parliament and committee meetings. Raising the issue Naresh Agarwal of the Samajwadi Party called for intervention of Home Ministry. Anand Sharma of the Congress said the Parliamentarian cannot discharge their duties and the government should take a call on this. Rajiv Shukla of the Congress suggested that MPs should be exempted from the car rationing scheme.<br/><br/>Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad also made similar demand. Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien said the scheme is causing inconvenience to MPs and Parliamentary Affairs Minister should intervene. Responding to this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said he will take up the matter with Delhi government.
