Isssue of Climate Change likely to dominate CHOGM meet beginning Friday

Climate change will dominate the agenda when the commonwealth heads of government meeting CHOGM begins on November 27 in the Trinidad capital Port of Spain.The Carribbean community forum comprising 32 islands in the region is expecting support of major commonwealth countries like India, Australia and Britain to support them on the issue. The small island group is trying to put its own concerns at the UN Summit on climate change in Copenhagen early December.AIR correspondent Manikant Thakur covering the event, in Port of Spain reports that as a rare gesture French President Nicolas Sarkozy will also attend CHOGAM alongwith UN Secretary General Bani Ki Moon as special invitee. The US President Barak Obama has expressed his inability to attend the event due to his pressing needs home.
