ISRO to launch Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System today

The Indian Space Research Organization is all set to launch the country's sixth navigation satellite IRNSS-1F today, on board the trusted launch vehicle PSLV C-32. The lift off will take place from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikotta, India's spaceport at 4 pm. <br/><br/>The 54-and-a-half hour countdown for the mission that started on Tuesday morning is continuing as planned. This will form part of the home-grown seven satellite Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System to provide accurate position information services, similar to the GPS in the whole country and upto 1500 km around it. <br/><br/>Activities at the launch pad in Sriharikotta is coming to a crucial phase, where the fuelling of the second liquid stage of the four stage rocket and system checks are going on. This is India's second mission this year, and the first one was also the successful insertion of a similar navigation payload in January this year. The position accuracy the common users can get from the entire mission is less than 20 metres, thus one can identify the location of an object with precision.
