ISRO successfully tests indigenous cryogenic engine of GSLV

The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, has successfully conducted the endurance test of a high thrust indigenous cryogenic engine of Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle, GSLV, on the 16th of this month. This has paved the way for the first developmental flight of GSLV Mk III. In a written answer, the Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh said India has demonstrated its capability of launching 1.4 class of satellites using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV, and 2 ton class of satellites using the Geosynchronous Satellite Vehicle, GSLV Mk II. Now ISRO is developing a new generation launch vehicle called GSLV Mk III. It will be capable of launching up to 4 ton class of satellites, the Minister said.
