Minister of state in the Prime minister's office Dr Jitendra Singh today said Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed Flood Early Warning System (FLEWS). Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Mr Singh said the North Eastern Space Applications Centre of ISRO has developed FLEWS as a research and development project in Assam in association with Assam state disaster management authority. <br/><br/>He, however, said FLEWS does not have the ability to forecast heavy rains twenty four hours in advance. The minister informed the House that as research and development project, the FLEWS model is being used in all the flood prone districts of Assam.
