The President of the International Academy of Astronautics and former Chairman of ISRO, Madhavan Nair informed in Bangalore today that a dedicated high beam antenna in S band is being developed in the Country. <br/><br/>This huge antenna mounted on the spacecraft will be used for Sat phone services, he disclosed. Right now Satphone services are provided in the country with the help of antennas on board foreign satellites, he added. The efforts are on to synthesise antenna with the Sattelite and the design is likely to be ready in a year, he informed. <br/><br/>Madhavan Nair was speaking after inaugurating the two day semicon summit, organized by the Indian Semiconductor Association in Bangalore. Speaking on the occasion Nair strongly advocated a major push in the area of Solar Photovoltaic sector. A big R&D thrust is needed in this area to bring down the cost and improve efficiency in the applied field, he noted.
