Israeli warplanes strike Gaza Strip

Israeli warplanes carried out several air strikes in the Gaza Strip early today. According to security sources, the F-16 jets struck two training sites for the military wing of Islamic Hamas movement in the southern Gaza Strip and in the north of Gaza City. Resident and witnesses said loud sounds of blasts were heard through the Strip and air concussion shaked houses within an area of a square kilometer near the targeted sites. They said fighter jets and reconnaissance drones kept hovering overhead. The airstrikes caused no casualties since Hamas, which controls Gaza, was expecting them and kept its security and military sites evacuated. The raids are the first Israeli army's response to Saturday's mortar barrage which wounded two foreign workers in an Israeli community village in Western Negev.
