Israeli warplanes bombed sites in southern Gaza on Tuesday night in response to rocket fire from Gaza. According to International Middle East media centre, no one was wounded or killed in the strikes, which caused extensive damage to an abandoned building in Gaza's airport. Israel's military in a statement said that the attacks were carried out in response to rocket fire from the Gaza over the past several days. Israel has repeatedly targeted the vast network of tunnels used to smuggle items from Egypt into Gaza. Gaza has been under a blockade since Hamas seized control of the territory in June 2007.<br/>AIR correspondent reports that Israel has repeatedly targeted Gaza in response to rocket attacks emanating from the territory. It has been also targeting vast underground network of tunnels used to smuggle items from Egypt into Gaza. The southern city of Rafah has been under constant Israeli air strikes that aims to disrupt tunnels across the border with Egypt as Israel accuses Palestinian fighters operating in the Gaza Strip of using these tunnels to smuggle and store arms. However, the Palestinians dismissing the allegations say that the tunnels are the last resort to bring essential items to Gaza which has been under a blockade since June 2007. Hamas seized control of the Gaza in June 2007 following bloody confrontation with its rival faction Fatah of Mahmoud Abbas. <br/>
