Israeli Air force planes attacked several targets in the Gaza Strip early on Friday morning in retaliation of mortar shells fired from Gaza at the western Negev. According to Israeli media Haaretz, there were no reports of casualties.

The air strike, which Israel said targeted a weapons cache in the north of the enclave and two smuggling tunnels in the south, was the first military attack against the Gaza Strip since the Israel Navy's raid of a humanitarian aid flotilla en route to the territory in May.
