Israeli PM calls on international community to stand beside State of Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on international community to stand beside the State of Israel and support its demand for immediate release of abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. According to a statement of Israeli foreign ministry, received by AIR, Mr. Netanyahu told his Cabinet that he has also invited abducted soldier’s father to meet him to discuss the efforts to release Shalit.
Meanwhile Gilad Shalit's family has started a march on Sunday with large number of people in a campaign to bring back the soldier held in Gaza for four years. Thousands of well wishers and supporters flocked from the family's home in the first leg of a 12-day cross-country march to Jerusalem.
The marchers have decided to set up camp outside Netanyahu's residence after reaching Jerusalem.
The march is aimed to ramp up pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a prisoner swap deal with the Hamas rulers of Gaza, who have held the soldier at a secret location since June 25, 2006.
