Syrian state media, SANA has said Israel had fired missiles at a Syrian military facility in the Damascus. It said yesterday that Syrian air defences blocked an Israeli missile attack on one of its positions in Damascus province and downed three of the targets. <br/><br/>Confirming the attack, Britain-based monitoring group, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Israeli planes targeted the Jamaraya region near Damascus including a scientific research centre and warehouses where weapons and ammunition of the regime and its allies were stocked. Israel in the past has targeted positions of Lebanon's powerful Hezbollah group inside Syria where the Iran-backed group is heavily involved in fighting alongside the Syrian army.
