The Israeli Military Advocate General today ordered to investigate the death of a Palestinian protester who was killed by a tear gas canister at a demonstration in Bil'in in April 2009.

According to Israeli media Haaretz, the decision has been taken after a video footage filmed during the April 2009 protest against the separation fence showed that Abu-Rahma was directly targeted by Israel troops in the presence of commanding officers.

Israeli Rights groups have said they were satisfied by the decision to probe the events surrounding the death, but stressed that the delay in reaching the decision was unjustified.
