Israel's Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi is arriving in Delhi on Tuesday on a three-day visit to India. Strengthening the ties between Israel and India and the nations' militaries is the highlight of his visit.

AIR correspondent reports, this is the first such trip by Israel's Chief of Staff since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992. The Israeli Chief of Staff is also heading a high-level defence delegation.

One can take it as more than a co-incidence that the US Federal bureau of investigation Chief and the Israel's defence head are visiting India on the same day.

It were US citizens and Jews who were targeted during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

Terror masterminds and LeT activist David Headley and Tahawur Rana were arrested in Chicago and since than Indian and American security agencies are trying to crack the case together.

If Israeli help arrives, it would be more than easy as Israel is well known for its intelligence tactics. On the other part, Israel has become India's No 1 supplier of arms and ammunitions, overtaking Russia.

The bulk of supplies constitute about 50 per cent of Israel's defence exports and about 30 per cent of India's imports.
