Israeli air strikes in Gaza have killed senior Hamas commander Issa Batran and wounded 11 other people. It is the first time an Israeli air strike has killed a Hamas commander in Gaza since Israel's military offensive there 18 months ago. The Israeli army says, the strikes were carried out in response to a Palestinian rocket fired into the Israeli city of Ashkelon on Friday. The rocket damaged an apartment block but did not injure anybody.
