Israeli air strike kills three Palestinians in central Gaza

An Israel air strike killed three Palestinians in central Gaza Strip a last night. Israel's military said in a statement that its air force targeted and identified hitting a number of militants preparing to fire rockets from the central Gaza Strip into Israel. Holding Hamas solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip, the statement said the Israeli forces remain committed to protecting its citizens and will continue to act against terror. Medics said they had recovered three bodies from the site of an explosion outside Bureij refugee camp, near the Israel-Gaza frontier.Meanwhile, the United States has said it was disappointed by Israel's decision to allow its partial moratorium on construction in Jewish settlements on the occupied West Bank to expire. US Special Middle East peace envoy George Mitchell is returning to the region to continue urgent efforts to break a deadlock in negotiations over Israeli settlements. Demanding extension of Israeli freeze on Jewish settlement activities in occupied Palestinian areas, the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas has said that he will consult with the 22-member Arab League next Monday on how to proceed on peace talks.
